| Job Description : | A Senior Motor Design Engineer is responsible and accountable, both internally and externally, for developing innovative, manufacturable and cost effective solutions for customer’s utilizing McMillan Electric Motor motor technology. S/he will develop and nurture professional relationships with customers, suppliers and internal staff to maintain existing business and to streamline development and approval of new customer applications.RELOCATION BONUS OFFEREDJob Duties:Work closely with Sales and customers to understand the application and motor requirements to provide the customer with the right motor design.Lead projects in the areas of electrical and mechanical design, application engineering and reliability testing by being the technical intermediary between customers and McMillan Electric Company.Provide training to McMillan Electric Company technical staff on electric motors and controls as needed.Provide hands on technical support to the Engineering Lab in the areas of competitive analysis, design for manufacture, project development, motor performance testing, product reliability testing, process development, material selection and supplier related issues as needed. Work with the Engineering lab to conduct motor performance and thermal testing to verify motor calculations meet application requirements. Use computer software and simulation tools to model output, create curves and prepare customer presentations.Develop and/or enhance internal design specifications for each motor type that ensure optimal product performance, standardization when possible, customer satisfaction and efficient transition from prototype development to production.Actively search for opportunities to leverage intellectual property protection as a means of creating exclusive customer supply situations.Contribute to research and development for new technologies, products, processes, and materials as required to ensure company growth and prosperity.Help the Quality Group by establishing receiving inspection and first article acceptance criteria, supporting technical supplier issues (new approvals and design related questions), establishing production control limits (Mod Sheets), and consulting on general process or workmanship issues.Assist Vice President of Engineering as required with patents, new product development, and warranty related liability claims.Facilitate an environment of teamwork with a hands-on approach.Perform additional duties as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Required: Undergraduate degree in Engineering, preferably with a Major in one, and Minors in magnetics, mechanical and control electronics.Minimum of 10 years of professional work experience, or 5 years in the motor industry.Proven leadership skills.Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects within a very dynamic work environment.Ability to interact with customers and communicate high level technical information.A high degree of computer literacy and proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, Auto CAD, and magnetics simulation/modeling.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Excellent design skills and understanding of Brushless motor magnetics and controls.A commitment to company values, goals, and objectives.Preferred: Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering.Design experience with shaded pole, permanent split capacitor, permanent magnet DC, Brushless DC motors and controls, and low voltage applications.Job Type: Full-timePay: From $100,000.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceHealth savings accountLife insurancePaid time offRelocation assistanceRetirement planVision insuranceSchedule:Monday to FridayEducation:Bachelor’s (Preferred)Experience:Mechanical Engineers: 5 years (Preferred)Work Location: One location |
