INTRODUCTION

General Motors (GM) has a rich history in hydrogen fuel cell technology dating back nearly 60 years, transferring NASA Apollo space mission learning to the very first fuel cell powered automotive concept vehicle -the 1966 Electrovan. Today, GM’s Global Fuel Cell Business is creating clean energy solutions for a gamut of commercial vehicle segments as well as non-traditional, non-automotive land, sea, and air applications, including stationary power and hydrogen energy storage. Most recently, GM announced that it will be supplying HYDROTEC fuel cell power cubes to Navistar for use in its production fuel cell heavy duty trucks -the International® RHTM Series.

GM HYDROTEC Fuel Cell Design Integration Engineering- A multidisciplinary, cross-functional team responsible for designing and developing GM’s HYDROTEC fuel cell systems. This team of skilled and experienced GM fuel cell engineers works in close partnership with Honda counterparts in the US and in Japan.GM is partnered with Hondato combine each company’s fuel cell technical strengths and to share development and production investments.

Our HYDROTEC Fuel Cell VDDV Team is helping to develop today’s and tomorrow’s fuel cell systems with capability and flexibility to meet a wide range of scalable, zero emissions applications. We are currently looking for talented and motivated CAD Analyst & Engineer to support fuel cell Virtual Design, Development and Validation (VDDV), specifically in Fuel Cell FEA/Structural modeling and analysis.

OVERVIEW

The VDDV Fuel Cell FEA/Structural CAD Analysis Engineer is responsible for leading the analysis of the design, development, and validation of fuel cell (FC) systems. Utilizing GM CAD and Data Management System, optimization, and statistical methods, the VDDV FEA/Structural CAD engineer will deliver new technical insights that optimize FC design and provide results and technical consultation to the FC FEA/Structural modeling team. The candidate will also provide requirements for improvements to advance simulation and validation techniques. The candidate will be involved with the latest FC technologies and working with a high-performance team.

Primary Responsibilities:

Design, layout, model, and detail Fuel cell components. Solve complex design issues, Mitigates technical design conflicts between components, subsystems, and the complete FC design

Ensures adherence to design standards & processes, engineering requirements, and Fuel cell/ Battery/Powertrain/Vehicle packaging specifications

Understands and executes layout, modeling, and drawing deliverables as guided by the Fuel Cell Standards and requirements, using the CAD software environment (NX & Teamcenter)

Completes approvals related to the review of both detail drawings and layouts. Reviews tolerance analysis results

Communicates status and recommendations to supervisor, Designer, DRE, and members of the Fuel Cell Development Team via regular meeting attendance

Develop virtual Fuel Cell integration solutions to support program requirements

Work as a fully qualified contributor who is dependent upon a high degree of knowledge and understanding of all aspects of propulsion systems

Strong knowledge in CAD and virtual related tools, software, and own the development of Standard Modeling Methods for virtual processes

Generate technical solutions for complex design problems in current, new, and major programs

Document analysis objectives, results, conclusions, and assumptions as report

Support Program Management and report-outs per EGM direction

Additional Job Description

REQUIRED SKILLS

Associates Degree in a technical field/Product Design or equivalent experience.

6+ years of experience in Product Design or a related field

Knowledge in the areas of GD&T, Tolerance Stacks, TcVis, NX ,TcAE and EDR

Excellent written and oral communication skills as they apply to creating/maintaining design process documentation.

Knowledgeable in Engineering Design, Product Release and Change Management, Team Center and Math competencies

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and VisMockup

Analytical problem-solving skills and ability to bring issues to resolution

Ability to work with engineers, designers and program team members to achievequality work orders and parts lists

Exceptional work ethic and integrity, ability to multitask and make decisions with limited supervision

Strong communicator, flexible, able to build relationships within group and outside organizations.

Demonstrated oral and written communications skills.

PREFERRED SKILLS

Master’s degree in Engineering

5+ Years’ experience with a major automotive OEM

DFSS Black Belt Certification
