| Job Description : | The Sr. Engineer, Product Testing is responsible for the evaluation of product samples. This role is responsible for the research and development of all engineering test plans to include test procedures, scientific/engineering measurement equipment, test fixture resource development and procurement, and standard operating procedures. This role is responsible for the evaluation and certification of Best Buy Exclusive Brands supplier and third-party labs engineering test capabilities. Responsible for reviewing and overseeing tests and test results. This role is responsible for closed loop corrective action for issues found during the review/audit process and overall training of product testers both internally and externally on Best Buy’s test methodology. Key Responsibilities: Test/Test Plan creation and optimization: Research and define the procedures, technical measurements, and observations that must be performed to assure a given product sample meets the performance criteria established for Best Buy’s Exclusive Brands products. Develop automated testing processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness of test groups to meet schedule and roadmap requirements for new product releases. Design and build hardware and software test fixtures/resources in support of new product development. Work on areas of optimizing product specification for testing optimization. Evaluate product samples and document test results: Execute test plans and perform measurements in accordance with the technical specifications and usability requirements to produce an accurate assessment of the functionality, performance, and customer acceptability of product samples for Best Buy’s Exclusive Brands (this would include pre-sku award evaluations). Responsible for documenting test results in test reports. This person will assist the engineering team and our suppliers in troubleshooting/resolving issues and in the improvement of the supplied products. Perform early test plan and test equipment development on development prototypes to help bring products to market faster. Maintain lab PC’s and PC test area. Engineering testing document review: Review suppliers/third party test results and oversee their testing leveraging both internal and external resources. Perform audits on suppliers test results and audit samples based on the lab standard operating procedure. Document and follow up on closed looped corrective actions for issues found during the review/audit process. Training of Product Testers: Train members of the local team, global test team, supplier test teams, and third party test teams. Verify they can perform the activities listed in the test plans, and will arrive at similar measurements and results. Supplier engineering testing capabilities evaluation: Perform evaluations and certifications of supplier and third party engineering test capabilities and perform post training audits to maintain quality confidence levels/certification. Basic Requirements: 4 years of experience using tools such as LabView and/or other automation tools for automating hardware related test equipment/tests (IE Oscilloscope, video and audio signal generators, Spectroradiometer, audio measurement equipment, HDMI analyzers, color analyzers, etc.) and operating system/software application tests 4 years of experience in the use, setup, and configuration of precision electronic engineering measurement equipment (IE Oscilloscope, video and audio signal generators, Spectroradiometer, audio measurement equipment, HDMI analyzers, color analyzers, etc.) Preferred Requirements: 4 years of experience using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth test equipment (IE protocol analyzers, etc.). Experience with the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth standards/specifications 4 years of product functional/performance testing and evaluation experience 4 years of technical issue resolution and troubleshooting experience 4 years of technical project or engineering management experience. Breadth of experience in functionality (technical, strategic planning, scheduling/budgeting) is critical 4 years of experience in electronic circuit design, assembly, and implementation 4 years of experience using Microsoft applications such as Project, Visio, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 4 years of experience using Microsoft Windows operating systems and associated PC hardware Must effectively interface with a wide variety of internal and external people and organizations. Requires excellent verbal/written communication skills and ability to be effective in dealing with various partners |
