Job Opening for Reporting Specialist in UNITED PARCEL SERVICE (Alpharetta, GA 30004)

This position retrieves, analyzes, converts shipment and revenue performance data into useful information for the customer (i.e., Sales, Pricing, Revenue Management, and Marketing groups). The incumbent creates/presents requested reports that assess business results and influence senior management decision making. This role manages/maintains multiple reporting databases and reporting dashboards.

This position requires knowledge of statistical modeling and analysis, forecasting, planning, critical thinking skills to design problem resolution and implementation of solutions. The incumbent documents changes, updates, and formulas during the process to ensure a complete record of the request is created.

Responsibilities

Reviews data requests to correctly identify and understand the information needed
Develops data retrieval plan (e.g., how the query is completed, fastest way to retrieve data, etc.) to pull the data efficiently from mainframe data sources
Verifies data output to spot inconsistencies and errors
Provides data implications of analyses and serves as a subject matter expert for the customers (e.g., Sales, Marketing groups, etc.) to ensure understanding of findings and gain commitment
Develops project plans (i.e., detailed plan, milestones, and work breakdown structures) and assigns tasks to resources to ensure that the project will be completed on time and according to specifications
Designs and implements communication plans to ensure those affected by projects are informed/updated
Prepares and presents analyses results with key insights clearly and precisely to support senior management decision making
Uses primary/secondary resources and tools to evaluate competitor intelligence, product/service offerings and strategies

Preferences

Displays familiarity with primary information sources relevant to assigned area and utilizes computer-based analytical/information management tools in order to perform routine analysis; documents approach and findings
Identifies key factors behind basic problems and establish a path to solve them; proposes approaches to solve more complicated problems; investigates and diagnoses anomalies in routine business results
Demonstrates an understanding of basic project planning processes, including planning action items and resources
Bachelor’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Industrial Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Marketing, Information Management or related field
Master’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Business Administration, Information Management or related field
Proficient with advanced Microsoft Excel functionalities (IF statements, pivot tables, V Lookup, etc.)
Demonstrates experience using advanced Microsoft Access skills (data optimization, macros, creating single/multiple-criteria parameter queries and forms, etc.)
Experience using Microsoft SQL Server (coding in SQL)
Experience with data warehouse systems
