What you will do
The Mechanical Engineer is a product development engineering role that will work Development Engineering Manager within Special Hazards R&D. You will be developing fire protection equipment for a variety of applications and industries. Activities include developing product design concepts, lead prototype generation and testing, conducting detailed studies to support design decisions, and maintaining records of design process in accordance with sound design practice and ISO requirements. You will interface with many internal functional departments and external resources as the need arises for product development from project idea phase to product launch. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

As a Mechanical Engineer you will work effectively in a multi-functional team and as an innovative thinker you will develop unique solutions for new or improved products. You have good time management skills and able to manage numerous projects and prioritize to meet critical deadlines. You work hands on with the manufacturing team and clearly communicate design specifications and be receptive to feedback. As a strong leader you are able to influence and inspire the project team to utilize product development tools.

What we look for
Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or expected May 2022 and Internship or Co-op experience
Able to apply fundamental engineering theories, mathematics, mechanics, and physical science concepts to the job
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, good written and oral communications skills, flexibility and adaptability to changing situations
Ability to write reports and convey detailed technical information
High attention to detail and solid organizational skills
Preferred
University degree and 1 year suggested minimum experience, or 2 year degree and 6 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to travel occasionally
Proficiency of MS Office, PTC Creo and Windchill
