Job Description : Beta Engineering is currently looking for a QA / QC Manager to join their team. This position will work in San Juan Capistrano, California. The QA/QC Manager ensures quality assurance for all material and activities on the construction site through communication with the Construction and Project Managers, review of material submittals, review of construction activities, review of inspection reports and frequent QA/QC site checks. This position will need to interpret contract requirements and policies as required, document and organize files and maintain company equipment/property. Other duties include on-site construction management, coordination with both internal and external stakeholders, project close out, and overall leadership and oversight with the project team. Additional duties to be assigned as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensures implementation of Beta’s Quality Assurance Program.
Provide quality oversight for the project, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors by verifying conformance with project drawings, specifications and contract documents.
Perform quality inspections to ensure compliance and document results. Manage test and inspection reports.
Provide support to the Project Team by addressing site specific construction and/or quality issues.
Communicate with Construction Manager, contractors and inspectors to address construction deficiencies and initiate any corrective actions.
Review project documentation (i.e., IFC drawings, customer’s specifications, industry’s standards and specifications, etc.) for accuracy and completeness as well as material submittal and special inspection requirements.
Review project and subcontractor’s schedules to ensure material and shop drawings are reviewed and approved prior to the start of construction activities.
Review material submittals and shop drawings from vendors and contractors for accuracy and completeness prior to submittal to the Customer for review.
Perform material inspections on contractor supplied materials to assure compliance with project requirements.
Review all applicable test and inspection reports prior to submittal to the Customer, including documentation collected from the vendors and subcontractors.
Assist the Construction Managers with job oversight on specialized equipment installations.
Provide temporary construction manager duties when construction manager is unavailable to oversee the project.
Assist the Project Management team with coordination of 3rd-party special and/or material testing inspections.
Attend offsite audits as required (i.e., precast fabrication, cable pole fabrication, etc.).
Perform final project inspections and lead in the development of Subcontractor punch lists. Assist the Construction Manager with close-out of project and final reports.

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Host, attend and participate in required project meetings, construction meetings, safety and/or quality meetings to represent Beta Engineering to the group.
Encourage and motivate internal and external teams to keep project and related activities on schedule and on budget.
Provides support to project teams by sharing lessons learned as appropriate.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited vocational or academic institution in the fields of Construction Management, Engineering or Technology; or a related field along with 3-5 years of construction management or quality control experience.
Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and Primavera P6 (or similar)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management; Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
Extensive knowledge of OSHA construction regulations with accreditation from OSHA Education Center.
General knowledge of high voltage substations or transmission lines.
Capable of reading and interpreting Civil, Electrical, Site Development, Substation and fabrication drawings as well as mix designs, geotechnical reports, equipment manuals.
