Job Description : | MPE, Inc is looking to add a Project Engineer to their growing team! This position requires the ability to estimate and quote high-level complex assemblies and/or medical device systems. Under the direction of the Vice President of Components and in collaboration with the MPE Sales Team. The Project Engineer will work to gain an understanding of the Customer’s needs and facilitate a cross-functional team to address those needs and develop a winning quote using lean techniques for manufacturing while ensuring customers’ expectations are met by the company. The Project Engineer may also be a lead in strategic component-based product implementation projects to ensure seamless transition from quote to product realization in manufacturing.*RESPONSIBILITIES, AUTHORITIES* & ESSENTIAL DUTIESWork with MPE team to deliver customer quotes that fulfil their needsLead the consult on developing/modifying design for lower costs and ease of manufacturability with input from design and production engineering.Work with supply chain team to price and source existing and new materialsCommunication with customer regarding their expectations of MPE, timing, and quote statusMaintain communication with customer regarding New Product statusWork with team to ensure accurate and on-time prototype deliveryCoordinate collaboration between team and other departments to monitor tooling process, tooling try-out, and the pre-production process.Work with quality team on first article inspections and PPAPsActs as leader in Customer Development Team on project scope, facilitating design ideas, and pricingDetermines product margin using resources available at MPEDetermines process for manufacturing componentsCombine multiple level of bill of materials and complex assembly operations to create a quoteIn addition, this person is accountable for meeting departmental objectives, and continuous improvement that enhances our ability to effectively satisfy internal and external Customers’ needs.Leads solution development efforts that best address customer needs, while coordinating the involvement of all necessary team membersEngages in effective two-sided discovery through great questioning and attentive listening.Responsible for managing CRM content in relation to the quoting processTravel to customers when needed, and host customer visits.*WORK RELATIONSHIPS AND SCOPE*Reports directly to the Vice President of Components. Daily interaction with sales, design engineering, purchasing, customer service, manufacturing engineering, and prototyping. The individual will also have frequent interaction with production personnel, engineering management and operations management.*EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE*Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field preferred5+ years of experience in engineering design or technical salesIndividual must have a complete understanding of product structure, including bill of materials and manufacturing routesBackground in developing quotes for high level complex assembliesExperience in a broad range of manufacturing processes including, but not limited to, CNC Machining, injection molding, extruding and assemblingPossesses the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical proceduresPossess knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing TechniquesHave working knowledge of ISO programsPossess strong experience in project managementMust have excellent communication skills and the ability to flourish in a team environment.Strong analytical skill and experience with Microsoft excel, PowerPoint and Word.*PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS*Quality, accuracy, timeliness, reliability, and thoroughness of work performed.
