What You’ll Get To Do:
Engineering and Design:
Assists with the technical development of new and existing solar and storage products and collateral including but not limited to solar panels, inverters, racking, batteries, software, drawings, data sheets, installation manuals, technical bulletins, and energy simulations.
Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to design and develop new products and build upon existing platforms to further success in the marketplace.
Utilizes CAD software to create electrical line drawings and mechanical design packages.
Create, review, and modify engineering and construction documents to ensure code compliant designs are provided by Authorized Installers
Create the logic for various utility rate structures, test within a lab environment, and work with the ESS team to ensure Panasonic solution meets minimum requirements.
Facilitate application, documentation and review of product and system compliance certifications and local code requirements for solar and energy storage systems.
Product and Software Development:
Advances product and industry knowledge through active participation in trade organizations and continuing education opportunities.
Maintains database of national and local codes applicable to solar and energy storage product design, permitting, safety, and performance.
Work closely with Product Management & Engineering to maintain technical & functional knowledge of existing and new products.
Responsible for translating market needs into technical specifications for new product and software development.
Stay up to date on applicable building, electrical, interconnection codes, suppliers, industry best practices, new products and applications, and apply to assigned projects.
Technical Service:
Maintains communication with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to regional sales managers, contractors and Authorized Installers, Panasonic manufacturing facilities, licensed professional engineers, third party vendors, NRTLs, and sales engineers.
Visit jobsites in the U.S. market to provide technical support for system installation and commissioning, process improvements that could be achieved with product modifications and document training and best practices for solar and energy storage products.
Stay up to date on applicable building, electrical, interconnection codes, suppliers, industry best practices, new products and applications, and apply to assigned projects.
Collaborate with vendors, factories, sales managers, operations and marketing teams. Monitor and analyze customer requirements, account developments, trends and progress as well as ensures customer support.
What You’ll Bring:
Education & Experience:
Requires B.S. degree in an engineering discipline pertaining to mechanical engineering, electrical systems and power electronics or equivalent
Requires 3 years or more experience in solar and energy storage engineering and design, installation
Requires prior experience creating and reviewing mechanical and electrical CAD drawings using AutoCAD and 3D modeling software, with a knowledge of required standards and code compliance in the US market
Requires knowledge of industry safety codes for energy storage and PV installation
Preferred experience in product development in residential energy markets within the US
Preferred experience with smart home integration and networking protocols including Modbus TCP, IP, CANbus, DNP3.0, and ICCP and IoT cloud-based projects
Ability to obtain Professional Engineering license
Possess a strong understanding of energy market structure, rules and regulations, and high-level economics, with proficiency in the engineering and physics of the system

Critical problem-solving skills to address and analyze complex engineering challenges and provide tangible solutions

Other Requirements:
Ability to travel within the U.S. and work outdoors at project sites that may experience extreme heat and, or cold
Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time
