This position drives change through focused engineered labor standards, automation implementation, and continuous improvement efforts to improve performance in safety, quality, performance, cost, and speed every day by deployment of engineering methodologies, tools, root cause analysis, and waste reduction with a bias for action.As the Industrial Engineer – Fulfillment, you will focus on Fulfillment operating systems and warehouse logistics analysis for internal and external customers. The ability to build key relationships within internal teams is key to success in the role, so communication skills are vital. The position requires strong collaboration with various cross-functional groups including Transportation, IT, Project Management, Accounting, HR and Outside Suppliers on various long-term initiatives and day-to-day tasks.Summary: Utilize Industrial Engineering and Business Process/Continuous Improvement techniques to improve facility operations through process improvement, metrics reporting/visibility, inventory control methodology, and labor management practices.Develop engineered labor standards via time studies, work sampling, standard data or predetermined data methods.Develop staffing models that predict headcount needs and labor costs for distribution center operations.Develop and lead a continuous improvement program for our fulfillment center operations. Identify and lead process improvement/ Kaizen initiatives in support of operations teams.Create detailed capacity throughput, cycle time, direct and indirect labor cost models.Develop cost per unit models that estimate the cost to receive, store, pick, pack and ship products based on the characteristics of the product and the distribution flow path.Monitor and enforce project schedules and quality with vendors or subcontractors. Develop and manage contract documents specific to RFPs, change order controls.Coordinate with local site management to ensure proper operator training, procedural compliance and safety practices are followed General knowledge of Distribution & Fulfillment operationsWork with Information Technology (IT) WMS architects to become WMS and automation software super-user Partner with the WMS and Labor Management System (LMS) deployment team to complete the Gap analysis of the future WMS implementations to the base configuration to identify process gaps between the site and the approved processes.Essential Job Functions: Apply company methodologies and tools to design distribution and fulfillment operations including staffing, equipment, sizing and layout.Collect data and perform statistical analysis.Determine efficient utilization of resources by analyzing layouts, labor force, equipment, and equipment utilization charts.Map and document processes, identify process gaps, make recommendations and implement process improvement.Support business development and help create efficient designs and solutions processes.Participate in internal/external customer facing meetings for proposal discussion and business development.Establish and implement performance measures, KPI targets and optimization tools.· Work closely with Operations Management, Program Management, and System Project Managers to ensure successful go-live preparations and go-lives.Play an active role in developing, maintaining and documenting all WMS processes and procedures to ensure adherence to the UNIS WMS standards. This includes general Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as well as site or customer specific processes and proceduresLead the technical writing of the process sections of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)· Act as functional test lead owner on all major WMS and other systems conversions at the Fulfilment Center to ensure launches occur without systems bugs/misses that affect customer service Lead the testing and deployment of the company’s automation designs by supporting the PMO teams as functional test lead and owner Design, document and lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Operational Readiness Tests (ORTs) to blend the delivery of automation, workstations and human interaction.Skills and AbilitiesAbility to work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of identifiable factorsExercises judgment in obtaining solutionsMust be computer literate and able to use the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel & Word) as well as MS Project, Vision, AutoCAD and Working experience with TMS, WMS , YMSAbility to operate within predictable parameters as well as defined tools and processes with guidance from managementMust be customer focused and results orientedDemonstrates problem solving and analytical skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to effectively communicate and interact with all levels within the organizationBased on data analysis, working with management to optimize business processes and individual observation and trial, build out necessary SOP’s.Proficiency with standard project planning software applications, Excel, time study software applications and predetermined data methodsExposure to Six Sigma, Lean Operations, Black-Belt Certified, experience in transportation/logistics, distribution/ fulfillment centers Warehouse Engineering, Studying Labor Standards (time studies), Distribution Layouts and optimization of flow, Warehouse Metrics,Headcount rationalization and forecasting, Data Profiling, Working with ambiguous data sets and customer requirements to develop a Supply Chain Solution, WMS Functionality and Processes required to implement engineering designs/solutions/proposalsSupport design, process layout and functional flow of new automated sites.Ensure facility success through testing of systems and automation that yield best practices and standardized operationsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering or equivalent,Five (5) or more years of combined experience in labor management, continuous improvement, plant layout & design, material handling, automation, manufacturing, supply chain, or distribution and logisticsProven multi-year project management experience, demonstrating influence and leadership.
