We currently have an opportunity available at our Rhode Island headquarters for a New Product Development Engineer. This position is responsible for initiating and leading new product development projects in Toray’s Lumirror Division.

Essential Duties:

Lead technical projects related to the new development of plastic films for a specific market or customer.
Responsible for new product development from the research stage through the developmental stage and into scale up to commercial activity.
Source new and unique raw materials and adhere to Toray’s safety and environmental policies for new materials.
Organize and conduct pilot line trials onsite and offsite.
Organize and conduct production line trials in conjunction with other Engineers.
Work with and present to the Executive, Sales and Marketing, Technical and Production Groups as required.
Perform all other duties assigned

Skills & Qualifications Required:

2 or more years in an R&D or process engineering function preferred.
Hands-on process manufacturing experience in converting processes, lamination, extrusion coating or metallization of plastic films is desirable.
Working knowledge of computer applications such as manufacturing process control and data analysis software, MS Office, and SAP
Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills.

Education & Experience:

BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Materials, Polymers or another related Engineering discipline
2+ years experience in dealing with materials, polymers, plastics, manufacturing processes.
Candidates with a Master’s degree (in a relevant discipline) and 0-2 years experience will be considered
