| Job Description : | We are looking for a Fixture Engineer for our Elgin, Illinois location. Are you an engineer, mechanical engineer or a mechanical designer? Do you have working knowledge of vacuum and thin film coating? Do you have strong knowledge of 3D-CAD and experience (preferred Autodesk Inventor)? If so, we want to meet you!Job Summary: The Fixture Engineer will focus primarily on the development of design solutions for components, assemblies and systems and on the fixtures for all applications (cleaning, handling, coating, stripping and pre- as well as post-treatment). This position is accountable for leading fixture-related projects to accomplish technical initiatives aligned with the coating business. He/she reports to Manager of Customer Solution Center.Duties and Responsibilities: Development of design solutions for components/tools, assemblies and systems. Focused on fixtures for all applications (cleaning, handling, coating, stripping and pre- as well as post-treatment).Development of fixture concepts and functional specifications.Creation of sketches, 3D models and technical drawings as manufacturing documents (drawings, parts lists, tests and assembly instructions) according to Balzers and international standards.Accomplishment of sub-projects and basic experiments for fixture technologies and production appliances.Calculation (FEM) and design of components and assemblies as well as the accomplishment of FMEA analyses Creation of test and assembly instructionsSupport procurement in finding, evaluating, establishing and maintaining suppliers for fixtures by following the procurement guideline for fixturesClose cooperation with BEFI / BTS and the Global Fixture NetworkRecording and scheduling of fixtures tasks in consultation with BEFI / BTSActive support of operation and sales as the local fixture expert for tasks as:Customer specific fixtures designEvaluation of best practice topicsImplementation of new fixturesFailure analysisQuality controlBatch load estimationFollows the Oerlikon Balzers POM processes, documentations and work instruction of BEFIExperience and Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline required.
