Overview:
Veeco is looking for a highly-motivated Mechanical Engineer to develop precision mechanical designs for semiconductor equipment products. This person will have in-depth knowledge using SolidWorks to create drawings and models for parts and assemblies. They should be able to break down complex problems and have strong critical thinking capabilities. Solving problems for today and the future
Responsibilities:
Develop precision mechanical designs for semiconductor equipment products
Compile requirements, analyze concepts, conceive designs, and build and test prototypes
Create part drawings, assembly drawings, and models in SolidWorks
Prepare and deliver design reviews, complete bills of materials, and execute engineering change orders to release assemblies
Work with electrical, optical, and software engineers to integrate subsystems into designs
Perform basic stress, thermal analysis when needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 8+ years of related experience, or a Master’s degree with 6 years of related experience, or a Ph.D. and 3 years of related experience required. Experience designing precision mechanical systems and proficiency in SolidWorks or similar for modeling and creating detail and assembly drawings is required. Semiconductor or similar industry experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be familiar with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and PDM systems (such as SAP)
Experience with optomechanical design and/or design for thermal stability would be a plus
Knowledge of precision mechanical system design
Experience with SAP and ECTR is desirable as well as basic knowledge of FEA for stress and thermal analysis.
Experience with the design of semiconductor capital equipment preferred.
Ability to communicate technical concepts and results clearly
