Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Marine Engineering & Technology Manager through March 16th, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. Central Standard Time.
This is a shore-based engineering, project management and consulting position within Chevron Shipping Company Marine Technical and Projects Group. The Marine Engineering & Technology Manager leads a team of Hull & Systems Engineers who provide marine systems and hull engineering services for Chevron’s upstream oil and gas offshore projects that have floating systems or marine content in various development phases including early concept development phase, front end engineering phase, and design and construction phase. Floating systems include floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels, Drill Ships, marine support, and marine elements of floating production facilities (SPAR, TLP, SEMI).
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Responsible for leading a team of Hull & Systems Engineers and providing marine technical consulting services, engineering design services, technology development of Floating facilities (FPSO’s hull and marine systems, hull non-ship shaped floaters) for small and major capital projects.
Responsible for Naval architecture and marine engineering services supporting Chevron Business Units project developments worldwide, including oil and gas developments. Develops engineering organization capability.
Closely collaborate with Chevron technical and technology supporting groups to deliver marine engineering solutions. Participates in Chevron engineering standards development, technical industry, and regulatory efforts, including monitoring safety and environmental laws, regulations, and standards.
Participates in assessment and development of new marine technology and digital tools for oil and gas upstream applications.
Participates in Design Assurance, in-house front-end engineering.
Provides senior technical counsel to Marine Technical and Projects Leadership Team on marine technical issues related to enterprise projects.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering/Naval Architecture or equivalent.
10+ years of experience in marine systems and hull design engineering, with 5+ years supervisory experience.
Strong capabilities and working experience in Marine Engineering and/or naval architecture with emphasis on marine systems specification, design and engineering analysis in tankers and Floating Systems Facilities, oil, and gas, such as semis, SPAR, and FPSO.
Working experience and knowledge of marine standards and regulations with tank vessels and gas carriers.
International and domestic travel up to 15%.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of computer productivity applications (i.e. Microsoft Teams, One Note, SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.).
Demonstrates strong leadership, willingness to make decisions, empower others to make decisions based upon clear expectations / agreed decision criteria, remove barriers to alignment.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-discipline team environment.
Ability to engage and communicate effectively through a wide range of stakeholders of varying experience and seniority to meet the business partner’s needs.
Builds positive relationships with key internal and external customers.
