Description
The Manager of Engineering will report to the MH Regional Director and JMH AVP Support Services. This position will be responsible for the daily operation of the Engineering Department to include oversight of maintenance, preventative maintenance programs and on site contractors preforming maintenance or preventative maintenance. This would include daily distribution of work assignment to colleagues, monitoring work order completion and documentation of maintenance records. Human resource responsibilities would include scheduling paid time off, participation in the colleague performance appraisal process, corrective action process. This position will respond to emergent facilities conditions such as fire alarm activation, power bumps, floods, snow issues, and other emergent conditions that require Engineering assistance.
Required Skills
In conjunction with MHS Engineering develops and executes facility wide Engineering Departmental policies.
Participates in the following HR activities: performance appraisals, corrective action, coaching, scheduling work assignments and approving paid time off.
Recommends the replacement of equipment.
Posses working knowledge and stays current with NFPA, Joint Commission standards and assumes responsibility for continued education.
Sets daily expectations for quality and timeline for completion of colleague work.
Develops efficient and effective work practices that utilize time and material efficiently.
Reviews colleague work order completion and execution of maintenance documents to ensure complete and accurate documentation that is in compliance with NFPA and Joint Commission.
Reads and understands technical documents to resolve facility related failures.
Provides Engineering updates to the MH Regional Director and JMH AVP Support Services and MHS Engineering.
Works with MHS Engineering and other Hospital leaders at all levels to provide solutions to facility related issues and communicates appropriately.
Manages the preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance work at facilities occupied by Memorial Health System strategic partners.
Schedules and monitors the work of contractor provided service for repairs and preventative maintenance.
Reviews contractor documentation for accuracy and completeness per requirements TJC and NFPA.
Assists with providing technical building information for the design and construction process.
Creates a work environment which promotes open channels of communication with colleagues and peers.
Participates in EOC programs at the hospital of responsibility and MHS as assigned.
Participates in the development of departmental goals and work to execute the goals.
Holds a valid state drivers licenses.
Preforms other related work as required and requested.
Required Experience
Education:
An Associate’s Degree in the field of electricity, HAVC or mechanical systems preferred or a high school diploma combined with a mechanical trade certification and a minimum of five years related health care engineering, health care construction or health care plant operations experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
None required unless candidate is in the plumbing field then a state plumbing license is required. Electrical License, HVAC License is acceptable.
Experience:
A minimum of five years related health care engineering, health care construction or health care plant operations experience and minimum of one year leadership responsibility as a Shop Lead, Forman, Job Superintendent or Supervisor.
