PSE’s Legal and Environmental & Prog Svcs Mgt team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Manager Environmental Strategy/Policy position!
Job Description
Oversees PSE’s greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory and carbon accounting systems, and supports relevant aspects of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting, as applied to mandatory and voluntary reporting to regulatory agencies, financial institutions and investors, and the public. Develops and tracks progress against environmental key performance indicators and sustainability performance targets. Engages with industry groups as well as other utilities on environmental quantification issues related to all emissions, discharges, and waste management to track trends and coordinates/collaborates on GHG and ESG metrics, tracking, and reporting. Procures and manages outside consultant services, provides project management and technical guidance, and manages Environmental Services Department staff engaged in air, climate, energy generation, carbon accounting, and ESG reporting.
Job Responsibilities
Oversees GHG inventory and carbon accounting systems as applied to mandatory and voluntary reporting under federal and state programs.
Tracks evolving ESG reporting frameworks and regulations and advises on applicability and compliance.
Oversees ESG disclosures, alignment with frameworks, goals and objectives and coordinates with necessary verification and auditing.
Coordinates efforts with internal and/or external legal and business experts when appropriate.
Advocates PSE’s interests to internal and external audiences on a variety of environmental matters.
Independently address, or supervises others who address, complex environmental matters or projects related to air emissions, climate, carbon accounting, ESG programs and energy generation.
Manages Environmental Services Department staff. Provides employees with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities; creates and supports a collaborative team environment; and promotes and supports a culture of total safety. Conducts performance reviews and sets clear expectations; holds employees accountable for performance.
Procures and manages outside consultant services within area of responsibility. Evaluates contactors performance against expectations; seeks to provide best value from contractor services for PSE.
Prepares budgets and tracks costs and progress against Department plans.
Provides senior technical support to other project managers in the Department within areas of expertise.
Minimum Qualifications
BA/BS in environmental studies or equivalent experience.
5+ years experience in environmental consulting or similar corporate or agency position.
Proven background in environmental project management and exposure to broad array of environmental issues.
Strong management, communication, teamwork, delegation, and problem-solving abilities.
Demonstrated capacity to build relationships internally and externally; ability to establish rapport with business clients across the organization.
Strong written and verbal communication
Desired Qualifications
Advanced degree in engineering or earth science or equivalent experience.
10+ years’ experience in environmental consulting or similar corporate or agency position.
Direct experience with environmental chemistry relevant to air quality, GHG, and carbon accounting concepts.
Experience with various complex environmental regulatory programs and at a minimum in-depth experience with RCRA or the Clean Air Act.
Experience in evaluating applicability of new environmental regulatory programs and supporting determination of requirements for compliance.
