Job Description : Scope of work: Once trained, this engineer will be doing hardware installation of data storage equipment. Ideal location of candidate would be in the Los Angeles area to be close to the local customer base in the area, but will be traveling regionally as well. Paid training is provided. Must have hardware installation experience and a reliable vehicle.Responsibilities: Provide installation and configuration of multi-technology data storage equipment (NetApp) in multiple data center locationsCommunicating with clients, coordinators, and other technicians to schedule and participate in: scheduling, planning, configuration review, installationUnderstanding how to install and maintain data storage equipment, including best practices around rack and stack, cabling, installation and configurationTroubleshooting and following product repair action plans (disk/controller swaps, etc.)Acting as smart hands with direction from a support centerInteracting with IT customers and TSP technical team members and external support organization — impact extends to customer technical representatives including systems administrators and technical managersConducting quality assurance and safety checks on all equipmentMaintain records and log eventsTravel as needed for formal and informal training, certification, and service deliveryInstallations are scheduled in advance, but the work is frequently done outside of normal business hours – must be available to work nights/weekends.Travel will primarily be in the local geographical area, but may need to be flexible to cover another part of the U.S. at times.Keep detailed records of business mileage and travel expenses for reimbursement.Requirements: Some related IT work experience in hardware or systems installation, data center environment (rack/stack, cabling), service desk, etc. is required.Good verbal and written communications skills — must be fluent in EnglishA strong sense of urgency, time management and customer facing skills are requiredAbility to work independently of supervisionMust have a general understanding of Microsoft Outlook and demonstrate superb communication skills (phone, email, and in-person)Must be reliable, proactive and possess the ability to take ownership of multiple engagementsThe ability to remain professional under pressurePerforms work under indirect supervisionHandles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staffAvailable to travel, work evenings nights and/or weekendsMust have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (mileage is reimbursed, travel time is paid)Must be able to unbox and lift equipment up to 70 lbs (with assistance) for stacking on racksMust be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and pass criminal background and drug screen prior to startADDITIONAL INFO: Physical requirements include lifting up to 70 lbs with assistance, bending, twisting, kneeling in order to work on hardware componentsValid drivers’ license and reliable transportation (mileage reimbursement)Candidates must be authorized to work in the United StatesSelected candidate must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to start or receive an approved exemptionClear criminal background and drug screen is required prior to startJob Type: Full-timePay: $23.00 – $33.00 per hourBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceEmployee assistance programHealth insuranceHealth savings accountLife insurancePaid time offReferral programVision insuranceSchedule:Monday to FridayWeekend availabilityApplication Question(s):What pay range are you targeting?Education:High school or equivalent (Required)Experience:Computer hardware: 1 year (Required)Work Location: Multiple Locations
