Job Opening for Industrial Engineer in General Motors (26427 State Route 281, Defiance, OH 43512)

The career level process engineer is able to work autonomously with occasional guidance from supervision. Skilled in equipment/tooling alternatives, sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines and facilities necessary for the production of parts. Work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly/plant activity where creativity and initiative is exercised as well as independent judgement.

Responsible for supporting activities that may include:

SORs and project management for tools, stations or specific technologies.
manufacturing process definition
sequence of operations
human factors consideration
efficient material flow
design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high quality parts
providing technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources
Work may also involve development and testing of advanced process technology.

This position will be responsible for the timing and wall review portion of new programs for Defiance GPS.

interaction with multiple groups to update timing on program status
conduct the monthly wall review for each program
Complete the IE portion of new programs at Defiance
Work with multiple groups on set up Andon and PTPM & C
Work with Team members on PPAP activities for new part production start up.

Potential new business discussion with Global ME group for general information and potential layout and budget.

Agile process lead for the execution team

responsible to run daily agile meetings
maintain the scrum board
work with leadership to develop direction for the team daily and weekly activities, both execution and launch teams
Lead continuous improvement on the plant scrum (agile) process at Defiance, work with Global ME as well
Attend ME, launch, PSR, Layout, Plant Leadership, and Process meetings – from initial equipment design through Run at Rate and ME/MO deliverable sign off.

Additional Job Description

Assist with start up and debug of new equipment as needed for a successful launch
Fill in for Launch manager and lead engineer when they are unavailable
Work closely with Launch Lead on manpower and operator support for new process lines
Assist the Launch Team with the implementation of GMS principles.

Administer the Operations Launch Wall (PLOW)
Participate in labor studies
Develop methods for material handling/dunnage
Implement Throughput Improvement Process (TIP)
Support ergonomic design of work stations
Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
