Job Description.
Lumentum is seeking an Optical Hardware Engineer (Entry level, Sr. Engineer, and Staff Engineer level will be considered) for or the Transmission Division to work on the development of tunable transceivers at 10Gbs, 25Gbs, and higher bit rates. The successful candidate should be highly motivated and demonstrate an ability to multi-task and to work effectively in a team environment. In this role, the successful candidate will have an opportunity to work as part of a world class engineering team and to contribute to the success of the Transmission Division.
Responsibilities
Characterization of optical transceiver at 10 Gb/s, 25 Gb/s, and higher bit rates.
Automate test stations for R&D purposes.
Carry on Design Verification Tests. Write technical reports.
Debug test stations and optical transceivers
Process large datasets and do statistical analysis.
Characterization of optical sub-assemblies (TOSA/ROSA)
Support qualification activities
Interact with internal design engineers in US and overseas and external vendors
Participate and contribute to customer meetings
Required Skills and Experience
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering/Physics or equivalent education and experience.
Position is commensurable with experience
Strong laboratory measurements experience
Programing experience with Python, C-sharp, or Labview.
Knowledge of optical communications, and/or RF.
Multi-disciplinary background with a demonstrated record of innovation
Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
Preferred Skills and Experience
Experience using high-speed optical and electrical equipment is a plus: Scopes, Bit-Error-Rate Testers, Vector Analyzers, Optical Spectrum Analyzers, Optical Attenuators, Wavelength meters, tunable filters, optical noise sources, etc.
Experience characterizing high-speed optical transceivers is a plus:: Extinction Ration, Eye Diagram, OSNR, Sensitivity.
Knowledge of impairment in DWDM systems is a plus.
Knowledge of high speed optoelectronic devices (e.g. lasers, detectors, modulators) is a plus. |
