This is a unique career opportunity where the method of resolving system issues remotely is replaced with front-line, on-demand technical support for vessel-based associates within the area.The Field Services Team is looking for a Field Services Engineer to join the team based out of our Paducah, KY location. This role will provide support services and engineering to select electronics and information technology onboard vessels within the fleet. You will be responsible for basic to advanced troubleshooting of computers and other related equipment, and technical support and training, when necessary, for the vessel-based associates. The individual in this role may be required to travel frequently, and with little prior notice.What you will be doing: Understanding the overall direction and vision of the vessel technologies, and provide technical, diagnostic, implementation, and maintenance to the fleetAssisting in technical oversight of the operation of vessel systems to ensure that they are configured and operated with industry-recognized standards of performance, quality, and effectivenessProviding Solution Center support services for the fleetProviding ongoing support for computers and infrastructure-related technologiesPerforming activities related to problem resolution and/or user service levelsMaintaining shop standards and ensuring adherence to accurate and complete inventory of equipment, standards, configurations, shop spare levels, receiving packing and shipping of equipment, and inventory control systemAbility to effectively train and mentor other team members and vendorsLeading vessel technology installationsMinimum QualificationsWhat we’re looking for: Bachelor’s Degree preferred, preferably with a focus on Information Services, Computer Science and/or Information Technology; May be waived for significant related and demonstrable work experiences3+ years of Information Technology experience requiredPreferred certifications with current updates:CompTIA A+ preferredCompTIA Network+ preferredMicrosoft Certified Technology Specialist preferredKnowledge of the river industry preferredAbility to manage own work and multiple prioritiesCoordination of work with other departments such as Engineering, Operations, and LogisticsProject work: Installs, Inventory, and Health ChecksMust have a solid level of understanding of operating systems, networks, network topologies (terrestrial and satellite) and associated systemsMust be able to diagnose advanced issues or problems and determine best course of action for problem resolution.Understand quality management techniques and able to adapt them to deliver highest quality and level of service to the organizationJob Type: Full-time |
