About the team and position

The Field Engineer is responsible for working on continuous improvement projects and using lean methodologies to refine processes. This position will work closely with all disciplines within the business to deliver throughput, cost and quality improvements in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Additionally, this person will need to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

What you’ll be doing

Interacting with field operations team in identifying potential problems and bottlenecks
Communicate with managers /team leads to determine needs and explain complex issues
Assist the Engineering team to validate product data
Assist the Operations Development team during training and new product rollout
Supervise and aid in pilot project rollouts and generate feedback
Manage field projects and implement engineering concepts
Create value stream maps and process diagrams for current and future process
Create sublot maps and geofence for new and existing sites.
Develop and maintain detailed documentation for new process improvements
And other additional duties as determined by the business needs

What you should have

BS in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in a lean manufacturing environment
Proven track record of implementing successful projects that impact the bottom line
Knowledge and understanding of lean manufacturing.
General knowledge of OHSA guidelines
Up to 50% travel
Valid driver’s license
A clean driving record with no more than two moving violations or DUI’s in the last three years
Excellent communications skills, oral and written
Ability to work through teams to achieve results
Strong analysis and decision making ability
Excellent facilitation skills through engagement, diplomacy and diverse opinions
Ability to work independently
Proficient computer skills including AutoCAD, Excel, Word

Other requirements

To be able to do your job at Carvana, there are some basic requirements we want to share with you.

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have a valid driver’s license
A clean driving record with no more than two moving violations or DUI’s in the last three years
May be requested to work overtime and weekends for special programs and events
Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently; majority of lifting from knee to shoulder heights; other lifting required from various levels
Must be able to carry and transport up to 60 pounds up to 20 feet
Requires standing for extended periods of time with frequent stretching, reaching, walking, stooping, pushing, and/or pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet and may have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance
Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity
Requires use of safety equipment that may include but not limited to face shield or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, mask, and other protective garments and equipment
