Job Description : Provide leadership and vision to manage the Environment, Safety and Health (ESH) division to support the Laboratory mission and enable exemplary performance aligned with the Laboratory`s strategic plan. Provide leadership and vision for the ESH division. Establish and lead a highly visible laboratory wide environmental, health, safety and radiological protection integrated program of best practices, certifications, standards, guidance, procedures, and management systems (SMS). Acts as a strategic partner to enable and assist laboratory line management in full implementation of ESH programs. A key focus is on maintaining centralized cognizance of and serve as the single point of contact for ESH programs, including radiation protection, environmental protection, analytical services, safety training, safety information systems and the functional areas as designated by 10 CFR 851, Environmental Safety and Health Program: construction safety, fire protection, firearms safety, explosives safety, pressure safety, electrical safety, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, biological safety, motor vehicle safety, and chronic beryllium disease prevention.
Enable and foster a proactive and integrated safety culture that promotes a sense of urgency based on safety observations, assessments, open line feedback, risk reviews, trend analysis, metrics, and data to mitigate risk and identify hazards. Lead the laboratory in the development, implementation, execution and continuous improvement of effective environmental, safety and health programs as well as ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Provides support to the Environment, Safety, Health and Quality Assurance (ESHQ) Sr. Director in the development and implementation of strategic plans, policies, and operational responsibilities.

Position Requirements
Comprehensive leadership and management skills necessary to define and implement the Laboratory’s strategic ESH program and services.
Technical skills in at least two of the following functional areas: safety and health, environmental management, engineering, operations, radiation protection, and occupational safety.
Experience in management of multidisciplinary activities, including the ability to develop strategies to attract, develop and retain a high-performing, diverse staff.
Skill in building and sustaining consensus and collaboration among key stakeholders.
Ability to drive change, including cultural impact.
Skills in communicating issues with senior leadership and management to devise responsive, efficient business solutions to program-critical tasks, including demonstrated ability to present complex issues in clear, concise terms.
Oral and written communication skills and the ability to work within regulatory guidelines, with internal and external contacts of varying level of expertise and authority, and to achieve assigned goals to the benefit of the organization and the Laboratory.
Ability to prioritize, plan and deliver workflow in a time-sensitive environment, while maintaining the ability to remain flexible and adjust to changing situations.
Ability to resolve matters involving competing interests and goals of multiple constituencies.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Q clearance.
