Job Description : Job Summary: The Engineering Manager organizes, directs, and measures all activities within the Engineering department to achieve the highest levels of safety, service, quality, and productivity. This position is responsible for managing projects related to equipment installations, validations, and upgrades. The Engineering Manager actively participates in engineering work, and provides technical support, knowledge and guidance at the floor level.Essential Job Functions: Motivates, coaches, and develops the engineering team to deliver optimal results, continuous improvement, profitability, quality, service, and overall operational excellence. Communicates performance expectations and delivers feedback as required.Adopts and drives Lean Manufacturing principles and other continuous improvement methods that improve processes, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), defect rates, safety rates, and cost targets.Manages the development and implementation of equipment for new products, processes, and capacity expansion plans.Defines and manages all aspects of capital projects including development of the project scope, goals, budget, and deliverables. Works closely with the safety department to ensure safety is incorporated in all line designs and operations.Leads the competitive bidding process, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and the qualification and installation of equipment to ensure equipment is compliant with all safety and quality regulations, including OSHA, ANSI, FDA, NFPA, and EPA.Identifies resources required for each project, and provides leadership and guidance to project teams to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.Develops and/or refines Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs), including LOTO, Process Safety Management (PSM), NFPA 70E and 79. Ensures compliance with all relevant procedures, practices, regulations and policies to maintain the highest level of safety for all employees.Creates and distributes reports to teams and upper management detailing the progress and status of each project, including project delays, scope changes and budgetary deviations.· Analyzes project effectiveness following implementation and makes recommendations to improve project elements, methods and execution.· Directs and performs all work in a manner that is consistent with the company’s quality system and FDA good manufacturing practices, includes maintaining a clean and orderly production area at all times.· Coordinates and participates in root cause analysis on OEE shortfalls. Develops and executes corrective actions that improve equipment performance, cost, quality, and customer service.· Follows, promotes, and enforces safety and environmental policies, practices, and procedures.· Assists with safety investigations and corrective actions related to safety hazards and/or incidents.· Contributes to the training plan and drives the execution of training to ensure all production employees have received necessary training and are following all applicable SOP’s, Work Instructions, and GMP procedures.· Leads Process Engineering and Maintenance Department on the development, execution of robust systems to improve the operation and asset utilization. Reducing unplanned downtime to the minimum possible.· Performs other duties as assigned.Education & Experience: · BA/BS in Engineering, preferably mechanical or industrial, or related technical field.· Minimum five years of leadership experience, strongly preferred.· Minimum five years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably cosmetics or pharmaceutical, with high speed and agile filing and packaging systems.Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt or Green Belt) certification, preferred.Project Management (PMP or CPM), preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to effectively build and lead a high-performing and engaged team.Strong oral and written communication, leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills.Self-starter with strong work ethic, positive attitude, and strong attention to detail.Ability to perform multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and manage time efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.Ability to promote and participate in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.Strong technical skills and experience in analytical problem solving.Ability to plan-ahead to minimize potential issues that may affect the company’s growth objectives.Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office)Good understanding of FDA Good Manufacturing Practices Regulations (GMP’s) and OSHA safety requirements.Ability to reads and interpret blue prints and manuals.Minimum Requirements: · Must be 18 years or older.· Able to work overtime & weekends as required.· Able to rotate shifts to support off-shifts as required.· Read, comprehend, and follow written and verbal instructions, including SOPs.· Travel required, including some international travel.Working Conditions: Good working conditions; climate partially controlled.Exposure to frequent movement of motorized equipment throughout production floor, including electric pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.· Wear hairnet, safety glasses, long pants, steel toe shoes/boots and any other uniform standards.· Sit, bend, stoop, climb, and stand for long periods of time in one place.Lift items up to 50lbs.Job Type: Full-timePay: $1.00 – $2.00 per hourSchedule:8 hour shiftWork Location: One location
