Job Description : | We are seeking a results-driven and hands-on colleague to join our Research and Development Team as a Development and Controls engineer at our Three Rivers, Michigan facility.The Development and Controls Engineer is responsible for continuing development, sales support, and service for the Kadant Johnson proprietary programs and the development of novel connected products. These responsibilities include the areas of control process design of industrial networks.Essential Duties & Responsibilities· Continue development and modernize software and language of KJ proprietary programs· Lead our connected products initiative· Develop detail wire diagrams for electrical panel designs for products and industrial process networks· Program electric equipment including revisions· Provide both field and remote access technical support to customers and Kadant Johnson personnel in the area of electronic equipment design, hardware application, and industrial process control systems· Serve as a resource for technical group in control system design, documentation, troubleshooting, and programming· Facilitate presentations, seminars, and meetings as required· Perform other normal business activities requested by the supervisorRequirements & Qualifications· Bachelors degree in paper science, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or electrical engineering· Minimum of 5 years experience in the paper industry· Experience in designing, maintaining, and optimizing process controls systemsAdditional Requirements· Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of the industrial process, steam system design, and control systems. Ability to program using CSHARP and CCW is an asset. Familiarity with DCS architecture and HMI interfaces. A high technical competence and analytical ability is required.· Analysis Skills: Identifies significant problems and opportunities. Analyzes problems in-depth. Relates and compares data from different sources· Judgement/Decision Making: Demonstrates consistent logic, rationality, and objectivity in decision-making. Achieve balance between quick decisiveness and slower, more thorough approaches.The successful candidate will have have the ability to work independently, plan, and provide sound technical solutions. The Development and Controls Engineer must also be comfortable performing multi-faceted tasks in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
