Control Systems Engineer/Technologist

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Control Systems Engineer you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. As a part of the Red Wing engineering team, you will translate business challenges and opportunities into purposeful technology step change solutions. Here, you will make an impact by:
Leading and contributing to key transformational programs: PACESetter (Factory of the Future, Business Transformation, Data Analytics, Connected/Digital Factory), Total Productive Maintenance, Equipment Reliability, Process Safety Management Technology
Designing, installing and commissioning new automated equipment for manufacturing to improve efficiency, ergonomics and product quality.
Partner with manufacturing teams daily to troubleshoot controls issues to determine root cause and implement corrective actions
Create and update documentation regarding controls systems throughout the manufacturing facility
Executing on capital projects from identification, design, installation, and commissioning; implementing effective control and electrical system solutions to a variety of new and existing equipment
Supporting Systems Technicians and Specialist team as well as Division Engineering partners on projects in compliance with Maintenance Conscious Engineering (MCE) and electrical and controls standards
Determining gaps in self-development and expand extensive high-level troubleshooting capabilities to provide tactical support for day-to-day manufacturing operations
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Associates Degree in a technical field (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
One (1) year of PLC/SCADA/HMI programming experience (examples: Rockwell, Allen Bradley, OSi PI, FactoryTalk SE, Wonderware, iFix) in a private, public, government or military environment
One (1) year of Process Controls (Continuous, Batch and Discrete) experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Strong working knowledge of Rockwell Automation – ControlLogix/CompactLogix/GuardLogix PLCs, PowerFlex Drives, Kinetix Motion Servos, Panelview
Five (5) combined years of experience working with manufacturing equipment installation and troubleshooting support, experience working with power distribution systems including design, maintenance, and renewal
Passion for and experience in SMART Manufacturing, Data Automation, Industry 4.0, Connected Manufacturing
Drawing tool such as Visio or AutoCad
Team player with the ability to successfully meet project milestones in a matrix environment
Proven track record of performance in process improvement
Demonstrated project leadership skills including strong written and oral communication skills
Travel: May include up to 5% domestic
Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
