POSITION/TITLE: CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT ENGINEER
One opening 1st shift
WAGE RANGE: DEPENDANT UPON EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
This position is in support of design and monitoring of production layouts and processes with a primary focus on safety for the purpose of increasing productivity, eliminating waste, reducing costs, and ensuring quality standards that are maintained. This approach will apply to existing and new production processes covering all Behlen business units as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide support to departmental Manufacturing Managers, Team Leaders and Partners in Progress regarding all safety, quality, and manufacturing plans/systems.
Assist in designing production processes that maximize efficiency and eliminate waste.
Develop and implement process improvements and technological upgrades.
Design and develop production standards in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing systems.
Research and propose equipment layouts and material movements to maximize product flow.
Understand, track, and manage equipment throughput/cycle times to meet established capacities and capabilities.
Establish a capacity utilization matrix that identifies departmental growth opportunities.
Support Team Leader through thoughtful listening and from there strengthen the relationship with solid communication, education, and mentoring.
Develop and provide tools to Team Leader and their teams to accomplish the manufacturing plan.
Work with Team Leader and production teams to have “actively engaged” Partners In Progress utilizing the tools/concepts available to improve labor efficiencies.
Train staff on new processes and provide work instruction and written manuals compliant with our ISO Quality Management System. (QMS)
Track and report project status/results at meetings, including post audits.
Support capital projects to be completed on time and on budget.
Practice safe working habits and follow safety policy procedures and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
Ability to work on the continuous improvement of product quality and ISO-9001 standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
Proven ability to work with and build teams
Advanced knowledge of production equipment and processes
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Troubleshooting skills
Strong written and communication skills
A sense of urgency to achieve success with strong motivated team
Ability to work, communicate, and exchange ideas with other teams and leaders
Ability to read and understand financial information and how to make affect positive improvement |
