Reporting to the U.S. Project Manager for Construction Management and Civil Engineering, you will help maintain the facility, plan and assist in the design for future projects, and help move the greenfield project from phase one through phases two and three. At a high level, your goals will be to undertake and manage civil engineering projects as required, including the regular maintenance of the factory, office, roads, drains, services and other buildings on site, and you will be involved in the planning and installation of new equipment throughout the site. You’ll also work to ensure the scheduling of standard tests to comply with safety regulations and good practice, and promote quality and safety awareness wherever possible.
Responsibilities
Plan and lead/assist in designated civil engineering projects ensuring completion within costs. The projects must also meet the required standard, to comply with applicable
Plan, install and commission any new equipment and conduct/lead price and contract negotiations with suppliers in cooperation with the technical purchasing department. Obtain competitive prices regarding the hiring of equipment/labor needed during project work.
Ensure contractors meet with Company standards in terms of safety arrangements, quality and environmental matters. Provide recommendations to increase plant efficiency and cost effectiveness, by working closely with the engineering departments (Electrical/Mechanical) on specific areas and projects.
Ensure the workplace is kept in a clean and tidy condition, acting as the first line of contact for repairs and maintenance work on site, arranging and monitoring the work in relation to quality, cost and safety. Manage all work in line with safety regulations and procedures and communicate with interested parties of progress (e.g. Department Heads).
Act as the main contact to external service providers, such as Building/Maintenance/Engineering contractors and Industrial Cleaners. Manage contract labor engaged in the project and services section.
Act as client or principal contractor as required under HSE (CDM) regulations and observe health and safety requirements at all times. Manage the selection of external contractors in terms of their safety procedures and records in conjunction with the Safety Department.
Monitor impact of forthcoming developments in terms of changes in safety matters and operational processes and advise Management accordingly.
Monitor and schedule for regular maintenance requirements/relevant tests to be carried out and advise accordingly.
Assist in planning and alterations to the buildings on site. Communicate and liaise with relevant authorities regarding planning permissions if and when required, as well as attending meetings with local residents if and when required
Qualifications
A degree in engineering, civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience, with appropriate state licensure
Experience supervising a construction site and the project members involved, and the ability to lead a project from start to finish
Experience in a manufacturing industry
Knowledge of OSHA and other applicable health and safety standards
Good computer skills, including: Competent use of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
The ability to open CAD and modify drawings
