Job Description : | Much of the engineer’s workday is divided between the manufacturing floor, where the CNC machines are programmed and serviced, and an office environment where data records are kept and preparatory duties are undertaken. You should be able-bodied, as the job may include extended periods of sitting, standing, stooping and walking. Evaluate and implement improvements to manufacturing processes Develop CNC repairs and select proper fixturing and tooling as well as develop specifications and requirements including testing, inspection, gauges required Design tools and fixtures to support manufacturing cells Product Data Management, Bills of Material, Routings and Structures Program Fanuc controllers using normal G code as well as Macro programing for both Horizontal and Vertical CNC machines Program for touch probing system to inspect parts to determine repairs needed and have part machined accordingly Ability to learn existing programing in order to trouble shoot programs Integrate VPS Principles and Tools within the shop Conduct training and workshops for VPS Manage VPS Metrics Provide support for development of standardized work Support problem solving activities Support Kaizen/continuous improvement processes Trouble shoot machine malfunctions including alarms, repeatability or tooling issues Represent the facility within Global Remanufacturing Groups Project Management (lead or support as required) Qualifications At minimum, you have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. At least three years working as a CNC programmer and manufacturing-based mechanical engineer. To fit our ideal profile, you will also have working knowledge of ergonomics, heavy industrial manufacturing, assembly operations, lean manufacturing and some experience in a unionized environment.
