Job Description : Infineon Technologies Americas Corp. is seeking an Applications Engineer (Andover, MA) for our Power Electronics division to work with customers and marketing teams to define and develop products. Specify MOSFET, driver and packaging technology requirements for products. Perform simulation and hands-on development in the area of high-frequency, low voltage buck systems (<25V). Infineon Technologies Americas Corp. is seeking an Applications Engineer (Andover, MA) for our Power Electronics division to work with customers and marketing teams to define and develop products. Specify MOSFET, driver and packaging technology requirements for products. Perform simulation and hands-on development in the area of high-frequency, low voltage buck systems (<25V). Work with Field Applications Engineering teams, System Architects and Applications Marketing in defining right-fit product requirements addressing customer requirements. Develop product target datasheets and act as technical interface between the Infineon R&D teams and customers. Work with internal development teams to develop new products, validate these products in the lab and support customer design-in activity once the product is available. Create go-to-market evaluation boards, datasheets, application notes and design tool for new products. Part-time local telecommuting permitted. 10% domestic and 10% international travel required. JOB REQUIREMENTS : Requires a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field and 6 years of power-related work experience. Must have the following experience: Power conversion topologies, its merits and demerits, waveforms, and different types of controllers and operating modes; Power semiconductor device operating characteristics, merits and demerits of these devices, criteria for its selection, and performance trade offs; Magnetics design, selection of magnetic materials and its characteristics, its parasitic components, and construction and winding techniques; System and circuit level Simulation using NI/Multisim and Orcad/PSpice and hands-on development in the area of high-frequency, buck systems; Using schematic entry, circuit simulation, and PCB layout tools; Designing voltage regulators using MOSFET’s; Gate drive schemes, drive requirements, and implications on performance such as efficiency, thermals, EMI/EMC; Development of power converters with digital control; Generating product requirements/specifications, and cost and performance tradeoffs; Generating product documentation such as product datasheets, BOM, PCB layout, design documentation, test plans, and test reports; Bench testing for verification of product meeting all specifications, test for operation under different fault and abnormal conditions, and performance under different sequencing of signals; Designing and developing mass manufactured products in volumes of tens of millions; Using the test and measurement equipment for voltage regulator development including Power Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes and Dataloggers, and power supply measurement techniques; and Troubleshooting issues from field returned products, identifying the root cause, and carrying out 5 why analysis.
