Mott MacDonald’s Iselin, NJ office is currently looking to hire a Geotechnical field technician to work with our geotechnical group. The selected candidate will perform field work to support our geotechnical projects.
Job Requirements:
Perform field work including geotechnical borings, test pits oversight logging, and soils and rock logging.
Perform, in-situ testing and data recording and collection including monitoring wells, Vibrating Wire Piezometers, Infiltration and permeability testing
Oversight of deep and shallow foundations installations, support of excavation installation and other construction activities as needed.
Preparation and submission of reports or other daily field reports as needed.
Evaluation of field information to perform engineering analysis and calculations on a variety of projects
Effective communication with project team, senior staff, subcontractors, and clients.
Maintain field equipment; troubleshoot as necessary; and
Perform other related duties as requested.

Candidate Specification
Geotechnical field engineer Qualifications:
Degree in Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
Minimum 2 years related geotechnical field technician experience.
Experience in logging of borings using USCS, AASHTO and Burmister classification required;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
Reliable transportation to access job sites and a valid driver’s license in good standing;
Position requires work Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends;
Candidates may be occasionally required to perform deep water geotechnical investigations for extended periods of time;
Candidates must be able to spend 100% of their work hours in the field.
