Job Description : OverviewThe Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing processes within Florida’s manufacturing operations that lead to stable, efficient, and scalable manufacturing processes. The Manufacturing Engineer will use the principles of LEAN 6σ and 6S to develop and execute a robust continuous improvement program and is also responsible for developing best practices within the production process. This person is self-directed and can work independently.Responsibilities Setup and adjust manufacturing machines to support new processesDevelop metrology solutions for new productUse and interpret results from modern interferometers and the use of MetroPro, Mx (Zygo) REVEAL(Apre), etc.Use of and interpret results from modern collimating instrumentation.Create routings, SOP’s, WI’s, etc.Participate in the quoting processCommunicates with Engineering while new projects are in the design phase and identifies changes in part design that will improve manufacturabilityDesigns (using SolidWorks) precision fixtures, tooling, or experimental parts to meet special engineering needsMaintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeoversMeasure process capability and establish SPC on critical parts and/or processesCoordinate/lead training for new standards, methods and processesEnsure projects are completed on time and financial budgets are followedParticipate in and/or lead Preventative Maintenance programTroubleshoot day-to-day process and equipment issuesSpecify new equipment and tools to increase capability and/or capacityBased on need, become proficient in equipment and processes outside of area-of-focusPrepare [quality] documentation packages for FAI’s and productionParticipate in bringing new technology or processes from Pilot to ProductionParticipate in and/or lead 6S activities which include but are not limited to cleaning, organizing, sweeping, and mopping work area; may be required to use a ladder.May be required to use shop and power tools to modify parts or equipmentComply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulationsQualificationsTo perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
