Job Opening for Application Engineer-Electric Vehicle in Modine Manufacturing Company (1500 De Koven Ave, Racine, WI 53403)

This position reports to an Application Engineering Supervisor or the Application & Product Engineering Section Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Design & Size Battery Thermal Management System (BTMS) and Electronics Cooling Package (ECP) for assigned Electric vehicle customers.
– Design Cooling system for Fuel Cell electric vehicles (FCEV).
· Ensure understanding of supplier capabilities for Electric components like Compressors, Heaters, Coolant pumps, E-Fan, Valve etc.
– Provide technical assistance to the customers engineering personnel.
· Coordinate the build and ensure the accuracy of prototypes.
· Specify test requirements and analyze test results on assigning products to validate performance and durability of new and revised designs.
· Ensure understanding by plant production and manufacturing personnel of design specifications.
· Work closely with other departments and the plant to ensure new models are delivered on time and meet all customer requirements.
· Work closely with Sales personnel with a focus on costing and pricing.
· Monitor feedback from the field and initiate product improvement when appropriate.

Position Qualifications:
– A basic understanding of heat transfer and Thermal Management needs on Electric and Fuel Cell Electric vehicles is required.
· Knowledge of structural design, manufacturing processes and computer methods are necessary.
· Knowledge of HV & LV Electrical components and controls would be desired.

· Prior Experience in the EV market and/or Thermal Management system design would be an added bonus.
· Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal is required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
College graduate in Mechanical OR Electrical engineering or related technical discipline with limited work experience or 2 – 5 years equivalent experience in the specified engineering discipline

TRAVEL: The incumbent travels to the customer location to gather further information on customer needs or to provide technical back-up to the sales account rep. The incumbent may also travel to Modine plants to resolve manufacturing issues related to product design and assist with the launch of new models. The incumbent may occasionally travel to vendors locations to review material and processes used for the product.
